In the Capital of Panem, twelve
districts are maintained to control the rebellions. Each district has its own
purpose to serve the capitol. Every year twelve boy tributes and twelve girl
tributes are chosen to participate in the annual televised event called the
hunger games. During these games, only one tribute can survive. Throughout this
book, Katniss Everdeen is put to the test to see if she will be the winning
tribute.
