In the 22nd century, life is very different from what it is now. People on the moon must mine a substance called Helium 3 for a war-torn Earth as a living. Crater Trueblood is a Hel 3 miner, as they are called, and he loves his job on the quiet side of the moon. However, one day, when he saves a fellow miner, he catches the attention of the owner of the mine, which is who selects him for a mission. Crater, being a nobody, does not believe that anything good will come out of the mission, but decides to go anyways. Accompanied by his friends and his pal Gillie, a smart, but frustrating, clump of mold cells, he must traverse the lunar landscape fighting humans and non-humans along the way, and try and change the course of history on the moon.
I think boys and girls between the grades of the fifth grade through the tenth grade would thoroughly enjoy this book.
