Looking for Alaska is about a boy named Miles Halter (nickname Pudge) who goes to boarding school in Alabama. He becomes close friends with his roommate Chip Martin (nickname the Colonel) along with his roommate's friends including a girl named Alaska. He starts falling in love with her, and is so amazed and astounded by her and she inspires him. She goes missing one day so he goes and looks for her. Although, the book is basically about Pudge adjusting to his new life in Alabama, experiencing true bonds and friendships for the first time, and finding out who he is and what he believes in life.

The sort of people who would like this book are those who are into a little romance, drama, and a little bit of adventure and suspense.
