The book that I read for the Fourth Quarter is called The Martian. The Martian is about an astronaut named Mark Watney. Mark traveled to Mars with his team and was called Ares 3; his individual mission was to study the environment because he is a botanist. But one of the days of their mission a sand storm hit and he was separated from his crew and they were forced to leave. With limited resources, limited time, and being stuck on Mars, Mark Watney has to figure out a way to survive until the next Ares mission to save him. During the book we see Mark solving each problem, so ingeniously and he's able to grow the very first food on Mars. We also see that Mark Watney has a great sense of humor even though he is in a difficult situation.

This book is tremendously good because it brings words into actions. The suspense of "will Mark Watney survive" is great. Not only did it provide suspense, it also provided great humor. This book was also great because it brought math and physics to life and kind of proved why we needed to learn all the things we do in school. I love the way the author incorporated the math into it because one of my favorite things about school is math, so it's cool how he used it in the book. I wouldn't recommend this book to children because it takes high skills of understanding to understand this book. Teenagers that find math and science boring I wouldn't recommend, but if you love suspense, humor, sci-fi types of books, you will enjoy reading The Martian.
